He was killed for his faith in Sozopolis (Apollonia), Phrygia, during the persecution of Decius. Leucius (Leukios) and Callinicus (Kallinikos) were martyred with him. Tradition states that Thyrsus endured many tortures and was sentenced to be sawn in half.
